Parade by Adequate Fur

Parade is a song about the fallout of coming to terms with being abused and the seemingly impossible challenge of learning how to live and heal after years of toxicity. The abuse doesn't just end when you cut the person out of your life; the control, gaslighting, humiliation, confusion, destruction of self, inability to manage emotions, complete distrust of one's self, years of suppressed needs and feelings all come to the surface as an adult unable to cope with this reality. There is this immense want to confront your abuser and get some explanation, yet the trust in yourself has been worn down to nothing. The story doesn't end here, but do know that it does get better.
