Distraction by Aderyn

As your skin feels the glaze of sunset on a summers day, 'Distraction' floats through the air with twanging reverb flooded guitars and idiosyncratic production that creates a sound more mature than Aderyn's previous indie pop. Inspired by artists such as Sasami and Wallows, Aderyn wrote this song about the itchy, restless feeling one gets in the dead of summer. A thrumming, energetic experimental indie pop beat carries the listener along until the bridge takes off somewhere unexpected, into a faded club beat, with guitars and synths echoing under Aderyn's dreamy vocal. Pushing her sound into new places with the slick production from Gethin Pearson (Orla Gartland, Walt Disco, Charli XCX), Aderyn also shows new layers of vulnerability with her lyrics. Hidden under layers of insouciance through the verses, the bridge opens up as Aderyn admits ‘I don’t want to be somebody who needs anyone’.
