Bloodline by AILÍSE

These folk songs are some that I hold very near and dear to my heart. I honour my ancestors in my practice of Irish music because not only does it allow me to tap into my cultural identity and understand my native land's history, but also helps me connect with those who are no longer here in this physical realm.

Each track was recorded in one take in a sitting room in Mountaindale, NY using a hand-wired U48 style microphone. These performances carry the voices of those who have since passed, their stories held gently between the melodies.

This logo draws directly from the imagery within the crest of my family’s coat of arms, a symbol that represents and honours the Ní hAodha name meaning “descendent of Aodh” who was the Celtic god of the underworld. Coming from the Old Irish word for “fire”, the name Aodh carries the spirit of transformation, passion and fervour - the same energy that fuels my drive and dedication to my musical craft.

I wanted to hand-draw the image to make it as personable as possible and the snake symbolism itself serves as a constant reminder of the importance of self-transformation and personal evolution, something that is ever present in the practice of being an artist.

The imagery also features a Celtic rapier, paying homage to the ancient warriors of the past and honouring their strength, skill and courage. The overall logo acts as a mirror of my musical journey highlighting the storytelling of ancestry, rebirth and resilience.

Born in Ireland and now residing in the mystical Catskill mountains of upstate New York, AILÍSE carries the stories of those who came before her. Her music bridges past and present with a sound that is rooted in ancestral spirit. In her songs, AILÍSE pulls on themes of change, personal evolution and re-igniting the fires within.
