Dying Earth from SKIN. by Alina Remains

i laid down in the grass in spring
and the weeds took over my legs
the flowers grew over my mouth
so god could hear when I begged
whispering songs down into the dirt
in the language of the dying earth
poisoned streams and severed veins
me and the earth bleed the same
as loud as the screams of cicadas in may
it begs in a voice so weary and faint
it burns like the eyes of a weeping child
and it cries through the drops of the rain
as men march on through oil and blood
the god of the earth prepares a flood
all men will tremble at the foot of the hills
as they crumble and shift asway
man's worn his crown and battered the world
but his time is ticking away
the dying earth will work as our sword
and the martyrs will live once again
the rivers will fill and the oceans will rise
and the era of monsters will end
