Banhado means showered or bathed in Portuguese, but it’s also the name of a massive natural park in the center of the city of São José dos Campos, where I grew up. When I wrote this tune, the first image that came to my mind was the bike rides I would take on sunny days which would lead to this place, where the railroad is, and we would go to watch the sunset and also find some illegal stuff in the local market. Musically it has that soul jazz beat that I love, reminiscent of João Donato, Horace Silver and Ramsey Lewis getting more and more surreal through the use of the analog synthesizer.
