Galician and Portuguese mythology is full of stories about Mouras—female beings bound to
specific places, usually streams, caves, or fountains, where they guard treasures or simply await
liberation so they can be free. Our Moura is the one from Castro de Negros (Pontevedra). She is a
young woman who lives deep within a mountain, taking human form during the day but
transforming into a fearsome serpent at night. The only way to free her is for a brave young man to
climb to the summit of the Castro on Saint John’s Night, where the Moura, in serpent form, arrives.
He must take a carnation from her mouth with his lips while she coils around his body.
Unfortunately, no one has ever succeeded—the fear overwhelms them, and they flee (sometimes
even falling off a cliff), thus perpetuating the curse.
An Danzza is an independent "Fantasy Folk" project from Madrid (Spain) composed and produced by Andrés Campuzano.
The songs are varied, using many different instrument sounds, most commonly the hammered dulcimer, oboe, flutes, bagpipes, harp, guitar, synthesizes etc..
A wide range of vocalists and guests have featured from 2010, with Haydée Mariñoso being the current lead vocalist since 2015.
