ANTI BODY by Awful Din

ANTI BODY is the moment in all our lives where, one way or another, we cease to be the pilots of our bodies and become passengers. It progresses from a background noise in the other healthy aspects of life to an obsession.

Much of the album is about my own personal journey with illness but the theme of separation between mind and body pops up in other ways. “Foot Punk” is about another band member’s disabling injury. “Vietnam” is a story about a young person sacrificing their own well being for a vague cause that may or may not be worth it. “No Mystery” is about how rapidly changing appearance due to illness can affect one’s sense of identity. The album culminates in the final song “We Have We Are We Will,” a desperate futile cry rejecting our broken bodies.

“Big’s In Paris Now” is a bunch of lines from Sex And The City. That one doesn’t count.

Many members of Awful Din, and many of our friends and family members, have had life altering medical issues in the past few years. In the real world we’re healing, but ANTI BODY is not an album about healing. As with most Awful Din songs it’s a place to put my negative emotions. ANTI BODY is about frustration with and separation from your body, for everyone who wishes it was something else.
