Space Rendezvous by Rafaelo

In aeronautics, a space rendezvous is a precise meeting of two spacecraft whose orbits join into one. In this album, it becomes a meeting between nostalgia and futurism. One trajectory carries memory and familiar musical language, the other moves forward with electronic focus and darker club intent. Space Rendezvous exists at the moment these two paths align.

Space Rendezvous is the first full length album released by Rafaelo under his new name. In contrast to his earlier work as Panama Cardoon including the slower and tropical leaning "Hasta la Wiggle" released in 2014, this album operates with a more nocturnal focus. The grooves are tighter, the low end more present, and the emotional palette darker. Traces of warmth and familiarity remain, placed within a more electronic and forward moving environment.

Produced over the course of four years, the album moves through different moods and textures while maintaining coherence. Themes range from the 80s spy movie inspired suspense of Kinta, to the synthwave night cruising of Night Drive, the darker electronic atmosphere of Ironfinger, and the heavyweight disco house of Run and Brothers & Sisters. Michael Paltachienti (Funkanizer) played a key role in shaping the album, performing bass on most tracks and handling the mixing, providing a consistent physical foundation. Tracks like Zmey, featuring Kriss Jun, and the breakbeat influenced B-Boy Samurai introduce subtle variations in energy, giving the album a dynamic yet unified character.

Mastering was completed by Hans-Philipp Graf, the multiple Grammy Award winning engineer, ensuring balance and cohesion across material created over several years.

Space Rendezvous takes listeners on a journey through diverse electronic and disco-infused textures, grounded by steady grooves and cosmic energy. It is an album for the dancefloor and for focused listening alike. Here, Rafaelo invites you to join the orbit.
