The reactions to algogenic signals are manifold: motor reflexes, autonomic reactions, hormonal and immune reactions to the psychological and social character. All these reactions are part of the systemic regulation circuits. The spinal adjustment of a algogenic signal is complex: a signal reflected back immediately to organs next to the algogenic signal source (glands, muscles, vascular, visceral and locomotives). At the same time the signal through the spinal (afferent neuron) comes into the brain where it is integrated, controlled and processed. The answer comes back along an efferent neuron to its interneuron and (according to the 'decision' of the brain) amplifies or dampens the response in neuron activated.
The projection of the algogenic signals to the limbic system is the basis for the effect it has the pain on mood.
