Neuritis (in general, the dendrites are also classified as neurites) is a conductor of pulses in centrifugal direction about the cell body. The synapse contains only the chemical mediators and mitochondria needed to produce energy; the synthesis of mediators occurs in the soma cell and transported to synapses through the "flow axon". The synapses may come into contact with both the soma and dendrites of other nerve cells.
