i was experimenting with looping tiny sections of something and never really progressing, or progressing in superfrustrating increments - and the concept made me think of Tantric Sex, where the idea is to never orgasm, but keep edging closer and closer, harnessing that energy for something something that's where i stopped paying attention. anyway, so i made these piece ages ago, i think probly 2018 (i think i made them around the same time as i made the Basket of Ears piece), but they kinda sat around not doing anything. then more recently (last year maybe?) i was asked to program one of the last episodes of Radio Earthling, and so i found these pieces and put them in the mix - and i realised two things. that they were actually really cool and interesting pieces, and that they were too long. so today i cut them down to the right length (i think), and here they are.
the cover art was our friends The Robots: the prompt was "album cover, new album called TantraPop, by Buttress O'Kneel". then i googled "tantric fonts" (lol!) and made a cover and whoomp, there it is.
“Words like "mashup" and "remix" don't really do justice to Buttress O'Kneel's method - Top 40 pop crap gets sliced, diced, and tossed into a dizzying, exciting hardcore electro stew. Compared to other djs who timidly drop a Vanilla Ice acapella over a Chemical Bros intro just to move a dance floor, O'Kneel shreds copyrights with a blood-curdling vehemence. Smash the state!”
