Chelsea June is a songwriter and jazz singer in Phoenix, AZ. This is an acoustic album of original works written by CJ as a young twenty-something, a time in which life feels both unsure and exciting. As such, the record embodies her initial decent into songwriting and explores identity, instability, and the "in-between" feeling of adolescence and adulthood. At its core, the album represents a young woman finding her way through heartbreak, friendships, and the inevitability of personal and musical growth.
To drive home the ideals of womanhood, the album is dripped in feminine metaphors and colored in shades of pink; a color that is attributed to femininity as well as a tribute to those affected by breast cancer. While the motivation to begin production was inspired by the loss of strong women, the completion of the project transformed into a celebration of life, to honor the past and embrace the promises of the future.
