She told me ya got one
hour to get out of here
and I told her, “well Mary, can’t ya
give me another year?”
the back and forth, yeah it came across
that she’s filled with all despair.
Another song about a broken heart,
complete with a single tear.

“Hey…Mary! Can ya let me back in?
Hey… Mary! Can ya let me in?”

The bottle dry, face is warm,
but the spirit’s cold and I know why.
Despondent souls wretched apart
after days turn to years gone by.
Feeling's mutual we say to ourselves,
never asking ‘cause the time ain’t right.
Legs are weak and it’s cold out here,
is all this even worth the fight?

Some good summers but them winter blues,
add a baby we’ll say we’re doing alright.
Now he’s five and that trash can full of pizza
boxes and beers gettin’ tight.
That sweet ritual of fight, soothe, repeat,
well, it’s starting to get real old.
Any warmth has long since left,
and all I feel is this wind on my bones.
