Road Hymns by Dan Blakeslee
I recorded the songs for "Road Hymns" in locations all over New England with a field recorder in places that have been sacred to me throughout my musical career and my life. Each song has a different audible experience for the listener. For example: I recorded a song under a lilac tree in an arboretum and you can hear the sounds of birds overhead. Another was recorded by the ocean on Marginal Way in Ogunquit, Maine with the waves caressing the shore, also in the cabin of my Dad's sailboat and my Mom's greenhouse. These spaces I recorded these songs in have been there for me in the darkest of times and when things were the most fruitful always centering me.
