Following a steady stream of singles across the last few years, DJ Q announces ‘Foundations’ – his third album for Local Action and the first to be a full-length bassline affair.

First, let’s show some respect: DJ Q has made classic hits in grime, UK garage, bassline and pop music (‘U Wot’ charted, never forget). But bassline is the sound he came through with and the sound that he’s continued to rep – even as it’s fallen in and out of critical fashion over the years.

In 2025, bassline might be as big as it’s ever been: almost entirely ignored by the traditional music media and sidelined in the capital, look outside London and it’s one of the main sounds moving clubs up and down the UK. A 20-year veteran of the sound who’s continued to collaborate across various generations of its disciples, Foundations is DJ Q distilled to his purest form.
