three staves is a work for open instrumentation and the score is written as three individual staves. The initial part is a series of patterns to be repeated multiple times, and in many cases the performers are playing at different speeds. Most of the work is 12-tone, and strictly so, and the last portion is relatively fast and entirely consists of 16th notes. The audio was realized for two vibraphones and a single piano line; there are many potential instrumental options, but one constraint is that the instruments would need to be able to play sustained tones.
I'm a Philadelphia-area composer who writes minimalist music, with a few works ranging from 2 hours to more than 4 hours. Several of my works have been commercially recorded, including two CDs by the Belgian pianist Stephane Ginsburgh for both the World Edition and Sub Rosa labels. Performances have taken place in several countries, including the US, France, Belgium, Brazil, Ukraine and Japan.
