Epic Journey by Squid in Chains
Some of the farthest and most amazing navigations are made by birds, inspiring legends and myths. The Arctic Tern travels distances exceeding 25,000 miles a year. The Alpine Swift can stay airborne for periods of 200 days, and the Albatross flies a distance as far as the moon and back.
After many recording sessions of inspired, spontaneous, collective music-making, we chose these three long journeys to present on this album, and arrived at these avian titles just as spontaneously.
Attuned to the group sound, and informed by decades of practice as composers and improvising musicians, Squid in Chains takes the listener on a journey into the contemporary psyche and Zeitgeist.
