Lyrics
Who knew stone could be this viscous?
This ain’t a peak, it’s a meniscus
Tomato paste dripped on the desert
Bulging and ebbing, flowing westward
Or emerging from the earth
Like giant creatures being birthed
gnarled pimples on a sandy face
Enflamed, throbbing, gorgeous disgrace
Petrified gardens of some other scale
Earthly delights inspire epic tales
Flowers, trees, bushes, and weeds
For some giant ageless deity
Silken ripples of cliffs draped
A hardened fabric wrinkled face
Boulders drip like candle wax
Melted stone, boiled glass
Legs of arches
Beg for marches
To the sea
To be free
From stopped time
The rocks are lying
About their state
Liquid stasis
How fast would I have to speed up time
In order to drink these rocks like wine?
A million years or maybe more
In the space of a single pour
How many formations would it take
For them to flow like a churning wake?
fill up a thousand Grand Canyons
monumental liquidation
