Mongolia Expedisound by Various Artists

With the Expedisound Series, initiated in 2004, label I.O.T Records builds bridges between the cultures on a planet in perpetual mutation. Music & video are the common thread of these journeys. Through the sound and video experiment, Expedisound invites to become aware of the extraordinary cultural diversity of our Earth and to pay attention to fragile ethnic groups, uses, cultures which run up into full against growing globalization. To form artistic ties, to enrich by the differences of each one, but also to become aware of the common aspirations, such are the objectives of each of these adventures.
But still more, each new immersion is an intense experiment whose strong emotional dimension feeds the exchange and transforms in-depth protagonists. The sound and visual documents gathered in each Expedisound seek to testify to this intensity.
Expedisound is an adventure initiated by techno travellers, the nomadic organizers of clandestine, electronic music raves. In England of the years 1990 and France of the years 2000, this new counter culture was violently repressed due to new public order laws. The search of freedom of these new travellers was seen blocked by the police, political and media interventions. Number of them wished to make continue the spirit of this movement which rests on the travel, curiosity and the mix of the cultures...

Three years went by before we set out again for the vast Mongolian plains, a country trapped between Russia and China. A new caravan made up of heavy-duty vehicles set off in 2006-2007. The outcome of the trip, particularly rich in human experience and artistic exchange, is the creation of MONGOLIA EXPEDISOUND, which saw the light in 2008. A road trip documentary and a booklet describing the instruments used, portraits of the people encountered and a presentation of the lands travelled completed the music output. The Expedisound series also gained in musical consistency

since the first opus only had one piece of traditional music whereas the second has 3 Mongolian music pieces and the electronic compilation is much more sharp and consistent. This step sparked the idea of offering a sound and image combination closer to the exceptional adventure that we had just had the pleasure to experience. For the first time, a documentary was also part of the ‘box set’, it tells the story of 15 people’s 6-month journey.

Initiated in 2004, Expedisound Series is an invitation to build bridges between cultures and connect artists through sound experience.
