The Assembled by Petyaev-Petyaev
The idea of assembling a large cast to play free jazz together haunted Petr Petyaev as soon as he picked up the saxophone. On February 26, 2020, we managed to make this vision a reality. It was great luck that our constant colleague, the brilliant pianist Feodor Amirov, and the experienced drummer Piotr Talalay were with us in the studio. The extended brass section sounds loud, and when the trumpet and trombone join three saxophones it seems that the musicians are trying to shout down each other. This refers to the concept of the album. It is dedicated to Leon Trotsky. Dissonances and even cacophony - isn‘t this the most appropriate soundtrack for the era of wars and revolutions? And the will to fight and fearlessness are necessary for the musician as well as for the revolutionary. Fortunately, music is the most peaceful and bloodless way of protesting against dullness and philistinism.
