Sciatic Assemblage by Andrew Weathers

A week spent inside in pain provided the spur for this puzzling and beguiling assemblage which brings together the everyday and the extraordinary. Unlike many works drawing on domestic field recordings which emphasise the intimate, the relational and the confessional Andrew Weathers here meditates on the absurd, discomforting and discombobulating aspects of our interior spaces. His version of the indoors is an uncanny location; it jangles, and confuses, rather than soothes.
Sciatica is a condition caused by the irritation or compression of nerves, an unpredictable and unruly affliction, the often painful sensations it provokes radiate, burn, stab, tingle and numb. In his assemblage named for this condition Weathers does much the same, offering up two restless and spiky compositions in his unique and provoking take on the domestic.

About Andrew:
Andrew Weathers (b.1988) is a composer and improviser originally from Chapel Hill, NC and currently based in Littlefield, TX. His work engages with notions of place, tradition, repetition, and spirit, splitting the difference between folk music and Land Art. Weathers studied composition at UNC-Greensboro and electronic music at Mills College in Oakland, CA.
