Manchester-based producer Fthmlss has rapidly built a name for himself stitching together curious beats that traverse lofi, downtempo and hip hop styles. Working with established labels including Village Live, Aviary Bridge, and Atlantic Chill, he has become a staple of Hip Hop and Beats Spotify Editorial playlists and his unique productions are always musically rich, playing like ethereal vignettes from a different world.
New track - ‘Still’, finds the producer in a meditative mood with natural spring field recordings sitting behind a relaxed piano line with a peaceful and nostalgic sentiment present throughout. Subtle tape wow, sound design, and SP404 effects bring the jazz elements and found sound percussion lines to life for two and a half minutes of absolute calm.
After an introduction to Folded by his friend and fellow beat maker Catch92, Fthmlss immediately impressed with his expansive and emotive tracks. Support from Huey Morgan on BBC 6Music followed soon after as he featured in label head - Asta Hiroki’s Introspective Guest Mix for Mental Health Awareness Week, the spot couldn’t be more appropriate as the forthcoming EP focuses on mental health and self-care as a central theme.
