Taking cues from filmic, dystopian retromania and a distorted yet romantic aesthetic of fading glamour, ‘8 AM’ is the new single from Grandamme. Formed of Claudia Kane and Bastien Keb, the duo are effortlessly interconnected. Kane’s timeless songwriting and soulfully affecting voice is wholly complimented by Keb’s dream-like production of dolorous orchestrated instrumentation and lo-fi beats.
Claudia explains, "8 AM is about the moment you first see something for what it really is and not what you’ve wanted it to be. When these moments happen you realise just how much of your own story, needs, and wants you have placed on the lens in which you look at that thing with; (when it’s more or less told you what it was all along). I’ve had many of these moments when you’ve been filling in the gaps in your mind and then the fantasy turns to reality and you think ‘why did I think that was a good idea?’"
As a solo artist, Claudia Kane has received tastemaker press and extensive radio play with syncs to film and TV. Bastien Keb is a multi-instrumentalist songwriter and composer whose artist albums have gathered extensive radio play and widespread critical acclaim.
A debut Grandamme album is currently in production, set for release by London label Def Pressé later this year.
