'hat' was initially recorded on a rainy afternoon in two-thousand and eighteen in Evan's bedroom and revisited in the early spring of two-thousand and nineteen, track twelve features a field recording taken in the field by fort missisauga, this record features thirteen tracks recorded on an analog drum machine, harmonica, midi keyboard, recorder, synthesizer, shaker and a wind-powered organ, this series of keyboard experiences consists of three trip-hop tunes, three jazzy keyboard experiments and five psychedelic-folk pieces, the latter of the record slowly falls apart into spiritual noise territory, pulling on the underlying instincts that fuelled previous twelvespot and mitten releases, an alternative, instrumental composition of 'doesn't matter' is included in the release as it was simply too fun to leave out, cover photo of Evan Wiens wearing Ty's straw sombrero inside a burned down house during a party, taken on a digital camera by Taylor Langendoen.
