Recht unerwartet ist der Sound, den Jerome Froese auf seinem ersten Solo-Album Neptunes anzubieten hat. Sehr ambient stellenweise und auf jeden Fall geschmackvoll.

Betrachtet man nun die Platte als Gesamtwerk, muss man ihr einige Qualitäten attestieren: Sie besitzt trackübergreifend einen roten Faden, ist also als Gesamtwerk in sich stimmig und versteht es, den Hörer immer mal wieder aus der sphärischen Lethargie hochfahren zu lassen.

Atmosphärische Parts, bisweilen mit Stimmen unterlegt, dann wieder rhythmusbetonte Nummern, aber auch sehr schöne Melodien (wie zum Beispiel in "Through the moving light") fehlen nicht – das hat Klasse! Auch eine Akustikgitarre darf mal ran, wie im glänzenden "Sky Girls", das mich ein wenig an "Force Majeure"-Zeiten erinnert. Froese junior hat mit Neptunes ein Klasse-Debut hingelegt.
