Overthought EP by Katie Drover
Revolver Upstairs Records return with the first release for 2021 - a 4 track EP courtesy of Melbourne talent now residing in Berlin, Katie Drover.
Once a weekly resident on the 5am set at Revolver Fridays, Katie remains part of the family despite being located on the opposite side of the globe. Since moving abroad she’s successfully established herself in the Berlin club circuit and has released on labels such as Lobster Theremin, Pleasure Zone, plus her own imprint Dokutoku Records.
Musically the EP is diverse highlighting various shades of Katie.
‘Overthought’ is a bold opener, full of energy and we’re sure will be a Revs crowd pleaser. Providing the remix, Alexkid strips things back to minimal form and builds upon a rolling groove.
The digital flip features 2 deeper cuts - ‘Maniactic’ is centred around a looped drum-break with sweeping ambient drones and jazzy notes layered on-top. Meanwhile ‘House Plant’ is a moody closer to the package with a playful bassline, shimmery synths and delightful suspense.
