Booya - Single by Krisco

The 'Booya' piece itself was recorded by Krisco on a sub-standard home stereo unit owned by his brother with a Lloyds microphone from the mid to late '70's. Played entirely on a child-marketed Casio keyboard, the track was recorded on one side of a 90 minute TDK cassette tape for the sole purpose of a Christmas gift to Krisco's friend in 1999... though he likely didn't receive the gift until February of 2000... considering it was recorded in January of 2000. Coming down off of the drug Ecstasy (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine), and having been awake for a good 36 hours, it seemed like the right thing to do at the time. Later it would fall into the hands of Sinusoidal Records co-owner, Richard Trimble, who would later have him as a regular guest/co-host on his late-night CiTR radio show, 'Plutonian Nights' on the campus of UBC, Vancouver. 'Foul-Mouthed' was one of the first of a series of early, live 'call-ins' from 'The Warehouse', which would later be performed within an actual studio. The original master tape has since gone missing. What a shame. I imagine it to be like that ring in Lord of the Rings: lost for ages, found, then lost again. In the year 23,498, some alien will find it and Krisco will become some sort of demented god. Either that or the human race will be deemed retarded. I prefer the latter scenario.

Krisco or MC Krisco (later "Los Vega" was added) was created for two purposes: 1) He needed a name to name himself on the original 'Booya' recording, and 2) He needed a radio-persona name. Using another name helped him play a character, thus it was easier for him to get over his crippling self-doubt. After doing radio from 2000 - 2005, Krisco is the current Art Director of band Sense of Scenery.
