Climate change and resource extraction are among the most powerful forces driving displacement, conflict and migration today. Some of us in Kuné have experienced these consequences first-hand. Ahmed recounts: “I had to leave Iraq because my life and my family’s was threatened. It was a very painful experience. I love my country, my people, my friends and family and I miss them dearly. But I cannot stop dreaming for a better life and upon moving to a new country. I found love, friendship and new hope. I think all immigrants, regardless of their story, experience these complex emotions of nostalgia and hope.”
