Lasso recalls: “I make all the instruments I play myself. When I perform on them I am reminded of all the elements that went into their construction: the wood from trees, the skin from animals, the wax from bees and metals from the earth. All these are gifts from the Creator, including my breath with which I play the flute and sing.” Some of these gifts are disappearing from the land due to the changes brought on by global warming. Our lives depend on those gifts.
