Anomalous Materials by Liam King

Eight years in the making, Liam King's fourth full-length LP has arrived. A wild, experimental ride from start to finish, Anomalous Materials sounds like nothing LK has put out before, but very much his sound. Lovingly crafted with guitars, synthesizers, drum machine and more, the songs are a mix of short instrumental pieces and longer audio explorations with some traditional vocal-based songs. At times ambient, post-punk, electronic, acoustic, industrial, rhythmic, lo-fi, and psychedelic, the materials contained within certainly are anomalous--though not without their charm. Bolstered by production sounding like something from the analog tape era but sonically in the future, the 17 tracks splay LK's vision in a beautifully fragmented way, yet with the precision of a laser.
