Invincible by Octavia Freud & The Weird Sisters

'Invincible' is the debut double AA side single release by Octavia Freud & The Weird Sisters. It features Maria from The Bobo on words and vocals.

It is taken from the upcoming album, 'Mancbeth' that is based on David Lemberg's script which updates Shakespeare's tale of ambition and murder to the 90's rave days of Manchester's clubbing scene.

Macbeth now does security at the nightclubs across Manchester and runs the Glam-iz nightclub owned by his crime boss Duncan. Lady M, his wife and resident DJ at the club convinces him that he is invincible and plots a way for Macbeth to murder Duncan and become the new king of the city. At the same time the three weird sisters who work as indie goth barmaids in the club tell Macbeth he will become king one day. It is ambiguous if Macbeth has been tricked into murder or whether it his own tragic flaw of ambition and self-deception which means he is happy to be told he is invincible.

Maria's wordplay and layering of vocal harmonies builds an air of sinister seduction as she describes how someone's ambitions can turn murderous when they start to believe what they want to believe in order to get to the top.

With Maria's final chorus declaration, 'Tell me I am invincible' it becomes clear the song is as much about her own value, self worth and ability to succeed as a female musician as much as the flawed character of the murderous self-deceiving Macbeth.

MANCBETH is the work of musician Octavia Freud and script writer David Lemberg. It is a electronic music and live theatrical project based on Shakespeare's Macbeth updated to the ambitions and greed of 90's rave clubland in Manchester.
