re-meeting you at brunch, acting as if you've never met me before when you and i both know you're the guy outside my window -- yelling when i can't sleep (keeping me up is a courtesy).

halfway through the conversation, you let it spill (less guarded you'll admit to everything). walking up closed down streets, putting traffic cones in front of turning lanes. as a chore, you play in the roadway (as the steady stream of break lights stops on reds).

as a courtesy you keep me up, as a favor you ask for my name (you knew it anyway).

as the truth reveals itself you'll find i know more about you, and you about me, than either of us had originally thought.
