Don't draw blood in passing spats.
Each one keeps its own domain
And thinks the other is insane.

In our houses, in our flats,,
Keeping us sweet company
Can't say that for you and me!

Snakes and monkeys, birds and rats
Can't compete with dogs and cats,
In a cage they're forced to stay,
Otherwise they'd run away.

My one's got a pedigree
Looks just like his family,
Not a lot inside his head
Is what you get when you're in-bred.

Strays and mongrels need a home
In the streets they often roam
These free spirits can't be sold
But my one cost a crock of gold

This old woman talks a lot
To all the animals she's got,
Their response is plain to see,
Never seem to disagree.

Got themselves a coat of fur,
She thinks they should look like her
Printed fabric, frills and bows
Never see them without clothes.
Cats and dogs, dogs and cats,
In our houses, homes and flats.

Now it's dark and out they creep,
Fucking up your beauty sleep,
Shrieking fight and endless bark
Evoke the hell of Noah's Ark.

This cat's crawled in late at night,
Scarred and shaking from a fight,
Shows it's happy in my house,
In my bed is one dead mouse.

Critters never use the loo,
The evidence is on your shoe,
A pale smile, a hopeless shrug,
I've walked it on your Persian rug.

The best thing I ain't told you yet,
Is all the cash you pay the vet,
Private treatment for your pet.
Better than you'll ever get!

Cheshire Cat and Puss in Boots,
Feline friends with human roots,
Acting like they rule the house,
But Tom was beaten by a mouse

Cats and dogs, dogs and cats,
In our houses, homes and flats.

He smelt a bitch, he needs to breed,
You've got him choking on a lead
And while he's going round the bend
You're telling me, he's your 'Best Friend'

It's licked some shit, sniffed some wee,
Now it's nuzzling up to me
My sweet scent might seem to you,
A living mass of stinking poo.

Watch those owners women, men,
Running round like head-less hen,
Complication, tears 'n' fuss,
Must be glad they're not like us.

Want a stroke, need a pat,
On its front or on its back,
Still I hope one simple fact,
You don't need it in the sack.
Short or long, thin or fat
Living with a dog or cat,
Eyes that ask/beg for food from me
All that loving don't come free!
