Zustände by Markus W. Schneider
„Zustände“ is Markus W. Schneider´s seventh solo album. The compositions originate from seven improvisations recorded within a single week in February 2025. Over the following months, the pieces got heavily edited, layers were removed and added. It was a process of repeatedly reconnecting with the material, recomposing from current perspectives, until it suddenly felt right.
The German word „Zustände“ refers to various states or conditions, but it can also carry a negative connotation, hinting at personal or societal disorder. The pieces lean toward the darker side. Colorful yet shadowed, surreal yet roughly real at the same time, threatening yet embracing.
