Aelys by Maven

This musical project emerged during the period of confinement. We were all touched by this sometimes tragic sequence, which revealed so many truths about the workings of our society, our relationship with each other, and our relationship with nature...

The musical inspiration for this project therefore sprang from the depths of collapsology. This notion is rooted in the belief that humanity is altering its environment, and spreads the notion of an environmental emergency, while proclaiming that action can reinspire hope.

The composition of this opus explores delicate themes and burning issues that have been translated into music, such as biodiversity with "Biodiversity Arks", global warming with "Global Warming", geopolitical conflicts with "War vs War", the health crisis with "Justitium", overconsumption with "Consumers" and Earth Overshoot Day with "Earth Overshoot Day".... We created and employed distinct sonorities to resonate these themes through our musical sphere. We also collaborated with musicians from a variety of backgrounds to incorporate new tonalities.

The album is a work of immeasurable richness, sometimes tragic, sometimes tinged with hope, anger and gentleness. The listener's ear will lose itself in an ocean of melodies imbued with sonic power and intensity.

We've taken Maven's identity even further, with its enchanting, emotionally-tinged melodies and ethereally transcendent guitars. In our vision, each track unites harmoniously to create a single entity: Aelys.
Aelys is symbolically represented on the album cover by a majestic whale carrying on its back both the scars of our destructive society and the wonders and riches that our generous planet offers us.

This opus will lead you into a contemplative reflection on today's world, conveying positive values in the quest for a better world.
