Later by DNA
The songs from Later were recorded from 2012-2013 as my crew KingHellBastard was coming to an end with our final album The War Room. This was to be my second solo album after On The Strength in 2009.So in one way this was my way of saying "Later" as in here's what happened since my first record. I don't want to get into all the details, but by the time these songs came around I had been an active rapper for about 15 years and I was in my mid-30s. In a lot of ways I was just over it, so "later" was also me literally saying "Later" to my life as I had known it. Which turned out to be pretty much true, since I didn't write a single word of any sort for a decade after these songs.
It's weird, because I always told myself I didn't finish this album. Apparently I did. For 11 years it only existed on an iPod that I thought was dead until I stumbled upon it in a box in my basement in May 2025. In reality, I think that I just considered some of the songs too...intimate? So what you see is what you get with this one, quite literally. That's me in the corner booth of a bar on the cover, bourbon and cigarettes on the back, and if you knew me back then, this album is basically like sitting with me for an hour and talking our shit. You know....simpler and wildly complicated times. Cheers.
