Nantang by Moving Ground Machine

The year was 2010. A new decade had arrived and it was the first time Moving Ground Machine had played together in a considerable time—years had gone by since our last jam session. It was also just weeks since James Cameron had unleashed his 3D magnum opus, Avatar in theaters. We had all independently taken trips to Pandora and found ourselves beckoned to the studio, ignited and inspired by Jake and his Na'vi allies.

What followed was a jam session that became the pinnacle of Moving Ground Machine as a creative, cohesive, imaginative, goofy, improvisational musical force. We hit the record button and luckily, what transpired was documented and we were left with what became MGM's masterpiece.

Completely improvised from top to bottom, it felt as though we had connected our Na'vi tails together and let the spirit of Eywa flow through us, leaving us the most characteristically "MGM" session ever put to tape with everyone's personalities highlighted and our musical language in balance and harmony. It was a night of four friends coming together, with Avatar as our guide, forming a memory that will always be remembered and cherished.

Now, twelve years later, with James Cameron's return to Pandora, Moving Ground Machine presents, for the first time ever publicly, Nantang (meaning viper wolf in Na'vi lol). Thank you for listening!
