I wrote “Somehow” when I was 16, although up until I decided to record this album, it had a different title. Also, up until I started working on this album, only one person other than myself had ever heard the song, and her name was the title. I decided to change it to “Somehow,” not by any means in the spirit of scrubbing my past, but entirely out of consideration for this person and their privacy.
I do really like the title though, because it’s like, “I had to SOMEHOW figure out how to tell you how I feel, so here’s a freakin song!”
