Lyrics
~Recitation of “To Sleep” by John Keats~
A quarter past eleven on a Saturday night
riding with my parrot on a wave of light
melatonin cruising right along
listen to the elvish owls sing a song
Memories trapped on the cranial ridge
neuroreceptors span a bridge
shift into fifth, push on the gas,
catch what’s trapped and make it last
Riding right past a funny scene,
hot spilled milk made Coleridge scream
holed up, caught up, passing by,
the catty-corner kitty starts to fly
Next to the unconscious spectral glare,
Lacanian thoughts and the people stare,
bubbling plasma starts to boil
memories melting myelin soil
Out of sight, out of time, cruise on down
moving right along to the funky sound
dendrites flowing like a waterfall
Catching neural moonbeams in the hall
Trip is almost over at a quarter ‘till five
sun on the trees makes the leaves feel alive
Conscious starts to wake, and tear a seam,
all across the surface of this cosmic dream
