The amygdalae are the sections of the brain that process memory, decision-making and emotion. Abstract as they are, all emotion and memory are passed through the amygdalae as electrical impulses firing between neurons.
If the human brain is simply made of electrical signals, does this mean it can be simulated? Research into the Electric Brain is ongoing, and computer models of neural networks have emerged that attempt to simulate human brains. But they have limits.
What is sentience? Can memory be simply stored? Can emotion be quantified? Is the human experience artificially replicable as mere data?
