Bet was written about CC’s abusive ex-boyfriend Joshua, who was her best friend since she was 12 years old. After 9 years of being best friends, they chose to finally date and unfortunately their relationship was far more toxic than either of them could’ve ever imagined. This song was written by CC after she found out the amount of infidelity, betrayal, and lies she received throughout those two very unhealthy years of her life with him. Obviously, they are no longer friends and this song is a message to him, reminding him that not only was he unfair to her as a partner, the betrayal hurt the most due to their years of committed best friendship. Insider information: her nickname for him since middle school was Yeshua, which transcribes Joshua to Jesus, which is directly played upon in the breakdown, with his higher than thou attitude walking on water while she drowned.
