They journey across desolate wastelands under the fury of an unforgiving star. Burning, burning. But they all heard the call and felt compelled to heed it. They arrive all sullen and delirious to bear witness. The ancient one is dying, and the sands know the truth of the matter. The ancient one moans and writhes, reaching out to a red sky with brittle fingers that crack and crumble.

And so, they sing for the ancient one and the ancient one responds. Images flutter at the back of their minds. Old memories almost incomprehensible. They are drawn in further and further and further. Soon the pain starts, the screams start, and they do not end. For the ancient one is dying no more.
