"Whoever listens to Terres Sonores will find a comfortable musical resting and dreaming place within the sounds of the album. The French author takes his recorder on his walks along the roads of some French village and captures the voices of nature. He rather feeds on what the elements have to say. For Philippe Neau Earth speaks in many languages so that music can reformulate in a manner comprehensible to the heart.
Sounds, vibrations, voices are words appearing in the album titles; they convey a dreamy mood of different manifestations. His melodies, although clearly integrated into the ambient scene, are impregnated by acoustical and concrete vibes. He seems to arrange the textures as much visually as he does musically. In fact, our composer has many connections with pictural art and colors accompany his music on this journey through the sounds of the earth. The breath of the wind captivates the artist. Most of the tracks seem to flow and move on the wind’s hissing, from the crevices of mountains up to unbearable heights.
Philippe Neau has a long discography and deserves the attention of well-established labels such as the Bulgarian Mahorka records (he already published the album A Quiet Place on this label in 2022 ). If you give a chance to his Terres Sonores you will certainly wish to hear more of his music. This one and his other albums are intricately connected to his graphic work: paintings and installations very much inspired by the primordial elements -earth, fire, water, air- which are a mark for his music.
