Only Love by Project AER

Only Love was written in early 2023, I had planned to release it that same year too. I wrote the album as a means of reconnecting with Project AER, and to make peace with what I was facing at the time, moving through chapters in life and trying to hold on to optimism for the future, and the sadness to be leaving even more life in the past.

I wanted the album to be a sort of "spiritual successor" to my album Growth Patterns, to build on the sound and feeling of that album.

I was not prepared for the rollercoaster of events that followed - that's not a story for here, maybe one day, but this album was the first domino that led to a near total loss of confidence, anxiety, and fears that Project AER was all but finished.

From there I shelved this album, only having really shared it with some close friends and a few others, most really loved the album, but feedback from elsewhere made me doubt it.

So cue 2025, and after uprooting my life and rebuilding in a new part of the world, I decided that this album should see the light of day, so I began multiple different reworks of the album.
All of those reworks led me right back to the original mixes and project files for the songs from 2023, and I decided to just polish those up a little.

What that left me with is genuinely my favourite version of an album that has so much depth and meaning to me personally and Project AER as a... thing.

When I wrote it, I wrote down two short phrases from which I drew the album title:

Look back on the past with only love.
Only love can break your heart.

Cheesy, yes, but those simple and obvious two truths meant so much to me when writing these songs.

They're yours now, I hope you love them, and I'm sorry it took so long to share them with you.
