The Departure by Pumpkin Friend
A recorded reading of my short story, The Departure.
“Saying goodbye, when there are so many things under the surface lurking in the dark waters is never easy. How do you say a proper goodbye, honoring what was once a whole ocean and is now a fractured fossil? Questions bubble to the surface like fish nibbling at bits of floating food. What did I mean to you? Did you need me? What did your father do to you? Did you cheat?”
Set on the Pacific Northwest coast in February, The Departure uses fantastical metaphor to resolve the kind of questions we all must ask when a relationship ends.
