Time Lapse by Regular Spread
Time Lapse was written and recorded in late 2023 at a secluded, all-analogue tape studio, Sound Recordings, on the outskirts of Castlemaine, Victoria—crafted entirely without computers, ably orchestrated by Alex Bennett.
The result is a warm and organic sounding record that pairs contemplative and nostalgic lyrics with cinematic instrumental arrangements, reflecting on the passing of time, old friendships and what it means to grow older.
Across its 12 tracks, ‘Time Lapse’ draws from an eclectic mix of influences—from the quirks of Connan Mockasin, the instrumental phrasings of Yo La Tengo, and the soul inspired arrangements of Curtis Mayfield—all filtered through a distinct lens. The result is a warm, textured album that feels both familiar and fresh, undoubtedly Regular Spread’s most considered and mature record to date.
