The earth starts slipping sideways like it’s got something to prove
Like you can’t expect tomorrow to be exactly like today
As the trembling grows stronger, all your plans just slide away

That’s the shakes

The earth gives and then she takes.
The ground beneath you breaks
And you feel the shakes

You never see it coming even when it’s overdue
You put it out of your mind. It couldn’t happen to you
But then you’re trapped inside it and you know there’s no escape
You can fight or you can ride it, but your world is changing shape
