Rigid Soul by Rigid Soul

‘Rigid Soul’ is a snapshot of our live set over the last few years, with a few extra surprises along the way. Inspired by 60s rock, delta blues, jazz and everything in-between, the majority of the music was recorded live in the studio to capture the raw power-trio energy from our live shows.

The album contemplates our formative years growing up in Scotland, from observational lyrics in tracks such as ‘Looking Down’ and ‘Miss Red’, biographical in others such as ‘Mindless Stalling’ and ‘Leading Me Nowhere’ to the tongue-in-cheek remarks of ‘Could I Borrow Some Money?’ and ‘Yesteryear’ - a shout out to the older generations and music from days gone by which has been a massive inspiration to us.

The albums finale track ‘What Gives Me The Right To Sing The Blues?’ dives a bit deeper. First and foremost a tribute to the blues greats - the song also reflects on our place in playing music so intrinsically linked to 20th Century Black American Culture as Scottish kids growing up in the 21st Century.
