XII: Coda by Riley Writts
For any fan/intrigued listener that hears this, my original intention was to release this as another 12 track album. But I changed my mind and broke it down to a 5 track EP, because who's gonna listen to. 12 track album for someone they don't know? but fuck it.....I'm dropping it anyway. "The Twelve" serves as a closed door on my unintentional numerical series. When I dropped "7 Caps", I was re-discovering myself. "FIF" was/is a beautiful mistake and "The Twelve" was a summary of my self discovery at that time, as well as feelings, internal dialogue and trying to be more of a variety. Granted, the thought process didn't match the final result but I'm glad I went through it. And if you're here, I'm glad it lead you here. It was definitely worth seeing through. The concept of "The Twelve" started as a mixtape idea in 2012, started recording 2013, abandoned 2014, picked back up after recording "FIF" and finally reconnect in 2020 and closed for good in 2023.
