Kobi is headed by Kai Mikalsen, a prominent member of Origami Arktika, as well as Sketch and KA. His collaborators include Tore Boe and Lasse Marhaug of the Origami contingent, as well as a literal “who’s-who list” of the Norwegian underground. Members of (here goes) Slowburn, Del, Ranheim, Marmont, Pogomono, SS Bondevik, Termisk Sammenbrudd, Jokke og Valentinerne, Pogomax, Salvatore, Origami Olympika, Palace Of Pleasure, Origami Synergika, Jazzkammer, Der Brief, Kaptein Kaliber, ARM, Origami Replika, I Quit, MBD, and The Nordic Miracle all make appearances.
To simply call the results ambient or electro-acoustic or post-rock or drone would really be a huge understatement. More accurate terms might be “powerful,” “epic,” or “amazing.” This record is the sound. It’s the sound of the world fading away each time you are emotionally wrought. It’s the sound of someone loving you. It’s the sound of anger coming to fruition. It’s the sound of lust. It’s the sound of despair. It’s the sound of every emotion that’s too powerful to explain with words, and it is captured here with painstaking accuracy.
